The ropefish is an eel-like, freshwater fish from Africa with an olive-green to brownish dorsal side and a lighter ventral side. It has a unique ability to breathe both in water through gills and in the air through modified lungs, and it is a peaceful but carnivorous and social fish that can reach up to two feet in length. Ropefish are escape artists, and due to their poor eyesight, they rely on their sense of smell and touch to navigate their environment.
